Study Visa

The responsible Unit for completing the procedures: The HEI.

  • The awarding Unit: The General Directorate of Residency and Passports at the Royal Oman Police.
  • Time Required for Completion: 10 days after completing the procedures for applying for a study visa.
  • Procedures for obtaining a study visa:

In the beginning, the admission procedures must be completed and proof of the student’s registration in the HEI must be obtained. The student cannot be granted a study visa unless the student is a regular student in academic studies. To do so, the following is required:

  1. If the student is outside the Sultanate:

In the event that the student resides outside the Sultanate, the following is required:

  1. A copy of the student's passport, valid for at least 12 months.
  2. A recent photo of the student.
  3. A letter of enrollment issued by the HEI.
  4. The study visa fees.
  1. If the student is inside the Sultanate (transfer of the student’s sponsorship):

In the event that the student resides within the Sultanate, the following is required:

  1. The student's original passport is valid for at least 12 months.
  2. Two recent photos of the student.
  3. A letter of enrollment issued by the HEI.
  4. Documents related to the current sponsor.
  5. The study visa fees and transferring sponsorship fees.

After obtaining the required documents, the HEI arrange for an application for obtaining a study visa for the student, and after obtaining it, a copy of it is sent to the student via e-mail if he/she is outside the Sultanate in order to enter Oman Airports (the student must present it to the airport staff).

If the student is inside the Sultanate, the visa is stamped immediately after obtaining the study visa.

Note: The HEI arrange the documents for obtaining the residence card and delivers them to the students, and he/she has to go to the General Directorate of Residency and Passports at the Royal Oman Police to obtain the card.
